TEC commonly is called upon to assess the extent of damages to fire-damaged structures. Wind carried flames from an adjacent home to this single-family home in Gwynn Oak, MD, burning much of the roof and some of the first floor of the one-story structure. TEC was retained to assess the extent of the damage and design repairs. Since the original construction of the home did not meet the current energy standards set by the local permitting department, TEC worked with the department, the insurance provider and the contractor to provide a new structural design that could accommodate new, more stringent insulation requirements. TEC was able to secure the permit on the first attempt and help accelerate the homeowners’ move back into their home.
