TEC provided the structural design and was the engineer of record for the 225,000 square-foot, nine-level spec office building in Columbia MD. The project is the feature building of the Howard Hughes Crescent Development adjacent to Merriweather Post Pavilion. The design features a steel and concrete composite beam floor system, hollow structural section tube braced frame and shallow concrete foundations to realize the vision of architect, Design Collective of Baltimore, MD. TEC delivered an economic and straight forward structural system that was under budget and consistently recognized as an efficient design, constructed by general contractor Harvey Cleary Builders. TEC also served as the engineer of record for the adjacent nine-level precast concrete double tee garage and the design of the cast in place concrete foundations, along with the 450-foot wooden boardwalk on timber driven piles through the bio-retention area.
